【Rhys Tramacchi】from The University of Queensland

Coming to the University of Kitakyushu has been a great experience. It is a really nice city to live in, not too busy but not too rural. Kyushu has some of the best food in Japan so if you are a connoisseur of fine tastes then I highly recommend this city.
The cost of living is also really low so it is easy on the wallet, leaving you with more money to spend on traveling to the many wonderful areas around Kyushu or the surrounding prefectures. The university provides great courses in Japanese to help increase your Japanese ability as well as your confidence, and there are plenty of opportunities to use what you have learnt outside of the university.

Kitakyushu is an awesome place to study abroad if you’re looking for a place with good people, delicious food, and a not so loud and noisy neighborhood. Everyone you meet walking around, especially on school campus, is super friendly and easy to get along with.  Furthermore, there are various restaurants located very close to the campus, and they all taste amazing!
One of the best things about Kitakyushu though is that it’s a perfect blend of city and countryside. It’s urban enough to not go crazy staring at rice fields all day and rural enough to be able to get a good night’s sleep without being woken up. Last but not least, the people you will meet and the friends you will make will be priceless. You will be able to meet lots of new people who will help you along with your study abroad experience and you can rest assured that if you ever need help, all you have to do is ask.
